HP will be adding the Pavilion dm4 Beats Edition 14” laptop to is lineup of thin and light laptops next month. Unfortunately, it won’t be here in time for Christmas shipping as the order availability date is set for December 18th. The dm4 Beats Edition will essentially be a clone of the existing dm4x specs wise (see our review for the HP dm4x here), but the design will include the signature black and red finish, backlit keyboard, soft touch surface palm rest and of course enhanced audio via an added subwoofer and Beats audio software. Also included with the Beats Edition dm4 is a micro fiber sleeve to protect the laptop when carrying it around.
Both the dm4 regular and Beats Edition will come with the latest Intel Core i5 and i7 family of processors for superior computing performance. There will also be an option of an upgrade to dedicated AMD graphics, likely the Radeon 6470M card. The HP dm4 weighs only 4.5lbs and is about 1” thick at the front, so it’s a nice and portable size. The battery life is rated at up to 7 hours, which is certainly above average for this sized laptop and should provide you with enough juice to make it through a day of classes without plugging in.
The pricing for the dm4 Beats Edition will start at $899.99 when it becomes available on December 18th at HP.com.
