The details for the Intel Celeron 925 processor can be found on Intel’s site.  Basically it’s a single core processor that’s the lowest level budget processor Intel is currently selling, but it’s enough for things such as web surfing and the most basic tasks.  It probably won’t handle HD video very well and the graphics capabilities will be abysmal, but if you need a laptop that sits on a desk and for light work this is the best price you’ll find for something new.  Consider the fact that the Windows 7 OS alone costs almost $200 and this laptop is almost free.  It typically retails for $350, so this is over 40% off.

One thing you might want to do is upgrade the RAM on this laptop so it has 4GB instead of the 2GB it comes with, Windows 7 can run on 2GB but it would suffer in terms of performance.  That upgrade would cost only around $20, you could buy the memory from places such as NewEgg.com or Crucial.com.

The $200 deal on this eMachines laptop lasts through the weekend, but it already looks like stores are selling out so you might want to order it online now and do in store pickup if you want to get the deal.

I got one of these Emachine laptops for 199 Today and It does not have a slot on the bottom to replace the memory.
It looks like you have to take the whole bottom off the replace the memory.
Dumbest thing I have ever seen.

Man, that sucks, so I guess it takes a bit of work to do any upgrades. I’m not too surprised, I guess this deal is best suited to those who know what they’re doing with upgrades or those that simply don’t mind having 2GB and dealing with that performance bottleneck.

Your specs are off. The battery in this laptop is only a 4 cell and there is no battery life spec. bummer!!!
