New HP 20% Off Laptop Coupon Code

HP has released a new coupon that offers an extra 20% off Pavilion laptops configured $699 or more, just use coupon code NBT59877 at checkout to get this extra 20% off savings. Shipping is also FREE! The offer is limited to the first 700 coupons used and expires on 10/16/2011. There is a limit of 1 redemption per address. Here is a list of laptops the coupon code NBT59877 works on:

The $50 off NBT59877 coupon does not stack with other instant off offers, so for instance, if there’s a $100 instant rebate on a $1,000 laptop you will not get that instant rebate when you apply the coupon, just the 20% off.

I think 14-inch laptops are the real sweet spot in terms of portability and size trade off for students. However, each persons needs will vary so you should follow these guidelines for determining which laptop screen size to go with:

  • If you know you’re going to be moving about constantly on foot and need something highly portable, choose something with a 13” screen or smaller and under 4lbs of weight.
  • If you will be commuting to school via car / public transit and just using your campus now and again a 14” laptop is a good size for you. It will still fit on most desks and not be too heavy to carry.
  • If you will simply be leaving a computer at home and relying on a smartphone or small netbook on campus for any computing needs then go with a 16” screen or bigger laptop for the desk at home.

The HP Pavilion dm4x (see our Pavilion dm4x review here) is probably my top pick as the most middle of the road computer that will suit a majority of students. It features the latest Intel Core i5 processor technology, 6 hours of battery life, aluminum finish case for durability and CoolSense technology to make sure the laptop stays running cool when in your lap.

About AJ

I'm a big believer in the importance of technology usage in education, but not just having blind faith in technology gadgets and using them in a school setting for the sake of it. I review and write about technology devices such as laptops and tablets that have a clear purpose and provide a learning advantage for students.
