Get $200 Off a Sony PS3 with VAIO Laptop Purchase

Sony is finally offering a deal to counter the Free XBox 360 with laptop purchase promotion that Microsoft is doing.  Now through August 13th, if you spend over $799.99 on a Sony VAIO laptop then you can get $200 off a Sony PS3 160GB gaming system.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Simply add a Sony VAIO computer, laptop or desktop, to your shopping cart that is configured for over $799.99
  2. Add the PS3 160GB gaming system to your cart (model number PS398418)
  3. At checkout you’ll get $200 off the price of both items, meaning you in effect pay $100 for the PS3 system

That’s it, no coupon codes necessary and this deal is open to anybody, even though it is being promoted as a back to school offer.  I went through and configured a Sony VAIO SA laptop, added it to my cart, and added the PS3 160GB to my cart and this is a screenshot of the result on the Sony Store:

If you already have a PS3 and don’t need another one, you can also opt for the Sony Internet TV Blu-Ray Disc Player NSZGT1 that retails for $299.99 and get the same $200 off deal.  The Sony Internet TV Blu-Ray disc player is actually powered by Google TV so you can surf and use the web just like you would on your computer.

For this back to school promotion Sony has also lowered the price of upgrade components to help save a bit of money.  A good choice for a student laptop is the Sony VAIO SA, it has a 13.3” screen and is thin and light.  Priced under $1,000 you get the latest Intel Core i3 or i5 processor, 5 – 6 hours of battery life, dedicated AMD graphics card, built-in DVD or Blu-Ray disc player, built-in web camera and just an overall very slick design.  You can choose from a range of colors and configurations to suit whatever your style or needs.  I configured a Sony VAIO SA and along with the Sony PS3 it came to $999.98 which is a great deal on these items.
