Amazon.com has just launched a new program for students in which those that join get FREE Amazon Prime. Amazon Prime means you won’t pay anything for shipping when you order from Amazon.com for the next year, this is a $79 value and depending on how often you order from Amazon can save you hundreds of dollars! In order to sign up you just have to go to Amazon.com/student/ and to sign up you just have to provide your school and major. You must use your .edu email address to sign up and Amazon does say they can ask for further verification of your student status, but the sign-up process online does not force any further verification outside of having a .edu email address.
Amazon Prime means you’ll get free 2-day shipping on any order and Amazon will also email you with special student deals that are available. Be warned, if you find the Amazon student email alerts annoying and opt-out then your Amazon Prime will also be canceled.

Thanks a lot. Just singed up and valid for a year!
So if you don’t have a .edu extension for your email – then what?
Since Amazon is basing the discount upon the requirement you must have a .edu domain as your email to indicate you attend a valid educational institution there’s no other way to get this discount unless you do. You could try contacting Amazon customer service if you feel you qualify but for some reason do not have a school email.
I had that issue because my school gives .net student email accounts. Here’s what you do:
You must provide proof of enrollment. Send an email to amazon-student-verification@amazon.com from the email address associated with your Amazon account.
In the message, include one of the following:
* A scan of your current student ID
* A transcript or class list for the current term
* A tuition bill for the current term
You must also include all of the following information:
* Your name
* The state where you attend school
* The name of your college or university
* Your academic level
* Your major
* The email address given to you by your College or University (if applicable)
They’ll review your info and if they think you’re eligible, you’ll receive an Amazon Student enrollment confirmation email.
hey Mara, thanks for explaining how to go about getting the Amazon Prime student for those with non .edu accounts, good to hear that Amazon is being flexible on this.
