Dell promotes the Inspiron M101z as having 6 hours and 36 minutes of battery life, so if that holds true in real world use it would compete well with other 11.6” screen laptop options such as the recently released HP Pavilion dm1z. The M101z is actually very similar specs wise to the HP dm1z – both use the same AMD processor, have similar quoted battery life, 11.6” screen and HDMI ports. The HP dm1z weighs slightly less than the Dell M101z (3.24lbs versus 3.44lbs) and the integrated graphics solutions are slightly different. Other than that these laptops will compete on price, unfortunately there’s no pricing on the Dell.com US site for the M101z but on the Dell UK site the M101z starts at £379 which is $584 – pretty steep compared to the starting price of $449 for the Pavilion dm1z in the U.S.
