Banana Republic is well known for having high quality clothing that appeals to a mainstream type of crowd. For college students the pricing you find at a Banana Republic store might be a little on the high side, but the good news is there’s a student discount to help out on this front. If you go into a Banana Republic store and show a student ID card for the college you attend you’ll get a 15% off student discount on the purchase price (sorry high school students, no discount for you).
This student discount also works on top of any other offers the store is running at the time. This means you can purchase clearance items and then use the 15% student discount to get amazing deals on some out of season or last years clothing. So while college may give you an excuse to wear lots of cheap screen print t-shirts and ragged shorts, for those times you need to dress up you might find something affordable at Banana Republic using the student discount!
If you happen to get denied the student discount by a store rep, simply print out this page from Banana Republic or save the link to show them that the 15% off is promoted on the website.

I went to the Galleria Mall in Houston today and asked the Banana store there for the student discount and they said they don’t offer it. Is it just certain stores?
That’s strange, maybe the sales associate was not aware of the student discount. Since BR is a chain they should have the same policy anywhere. Teachers are also supposed to be eligible for it too.
does this go for outlets as well… and can I go back with my receipt so they can credit me??
From what I understand it does not apply at BR outlets, I doubt they would credit you if you have already worn the clothes, if you haven’t you could return them and buy them again.
Went to BR in San Luis Obispo and they said the 15% discount cannot be used for clearance items. So many inconsistency. Not worth it!
They recently changed the criteria so that it only works on full priced items. Oh wells….
