Get the Windows 7 Upgrade Pre-Order for $50

Posted on 28 June 2009

In case you hadn’t heard, Microsoft will be releasing their next generation Windows operating system on October 22nd, 2009.  The new OS will be dubbed Windows 7 and it promises to be everything that Windows Vista was not, in other words, an OS that’s worth having!  Right now Microsoft is running a program in which you can pre-order Windows 7 Premium and if you get the order in by July 11 the cost is $50, that’s almost a $70 discount from the price of $119.98 it will be after July 11th.  You can order Windows 7 from various places such as Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, or WalMart.com.

If you have Vista Premium already the upgrade disk will work without problem.  If you have a different version of Vista or Windows XP, the upgrade disk should still work for you but you might need to do a clean install of the OS using this disk, the steps for upgrading from Windows XP or a non-premium version of Vista can be found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd446674(WS.10).aspx.  If you’re unsure as to whether your computer will be able to run Windows 7, just download the Windows Upgrade Advisor from Microsoft and it will give a full report on what your performance should be using this new OS.
