Apple has launched their annual Back to School program in which you can buy a Mac and get an iPod Touch for free once again. In order to qualify you have to purchase a Mac computer and iPod Touch 8GB version at the same time, and then submit a rebate to get the money back on the iPod Touch. The rebate will be in the amount of $229, which is the cost of the iPod Touch 8GB, you can get the more expensive 16GB iPod Touch and simply pay the difference if you like.
The following people are eligible for this back to school 2009 Apple rebate:
- Any employee of a public or private K-12 institution in the United States is eligible. In addition, school board members who are currently serving as elected or appointed members are eligible. PTA or PTO executives currently serving as elected or appointed officers are eligible.
- Faculty and staff of Higher Education institutions; and students attending, or accepted into a Higher Education institution are eligible to purchase. Purchases from the Apple Store for Education Individuals are not for institutional purchase or resale.
- Parents purchasing on behalf of their child, who is a student currently attending or accepted into a public or private Higher Education Institution in the United States, are eligible to purchase.
The following Apple products are eligible as a “Mac Computer” purchase that will score a free iPod Touch:
- iMac
- MacBook
- MacBook Pro
- MacBook Air
- Mac Pro
Configure-to-order versions of these Apple Computers qualify for this offer. Refurbished Apple Computers do not qualify and neither does the Mac mini qualify. The rebate you get will also be based on the iPod you purchase, you CANNOT get a $229 rebate if you purchase a lesser amount iPod, you will only get a rebate that covers the amount of the iPod you purchase (up to $229). So for instance, here are some example rebates:
- iPod touch 8GB - $229
- iPod classic 120GB -$229
- iPod nano 16GB - $199
- iPod nano 8GB - $149
- iPod shuffle 4GB - $79
