iWaveCube Microwave Perfect Size for College Dorm Rooms

Posted on 18 August 2008

When you’re in a dorm room or tiny apartment you can be sure that space will be tight.  Being highly organized and having stuff that takes up minimal space is key.  Now, many of us these days have things we simply can’t live without, and a microwave falls under that heading.  But who wants to lug a giant microwave to school and then have to figure out the space to put it in?  Enter the IwaveCube, the world’s tiniest microwave.  This little gizmo is so tiny it comes equipped with a handle so you can easily move it around.  It measures a mere 10.5″x12″x10″(under a cubic foot) and weighs only 12lbs (about that of a bowling ball) so it’s no bother to pick up and carry.  The power is a little lacking at only 600 watts, it’ll take about 4 - 4.5 minutes to heat up that hot pocket or popcorn and forget about cooking a full meal in this thing, but the reality is in college you probably don’t have the time to do that anyway.

The price is a little steep, it costs $129 to get this thing from SkyMall.com (about the only place you can get it now that SharperImage is closed down).  However, if you’re willing to pay a bit more just to save on space, certainly worth a look.  For a quick review of the Iwavecube see what Gizmodo had to say.
