It’s Labor Day again and that means most students are either back at school or will be in the next few days. Many have by now purchased that essential laptop you’ll need to do all the work in the upcoming year, but for those that haven’t there are some really good deals out there right now from the likes of HP, Dell, Sony and Lenovo.
Dell Laptops and Labor Day Discounts
Dell makes several laptops that will fit the needs of the college student. I recommend the Inspiron 1420 (14.1″ screen notebook), Inspiron 1525 (15.4″ notebook), XPS M1330 (13.3″ screen notebook) or XPS M1530 for your school needs. The Inspiron series is cheaper than the XPS, but XPS offers more performance and sleek looks. Here are some deals running on these laptops right now:
- Use code R6P6R0DMN69T10 to get $400 off any $1,399.00+ Dell Inspiron laptop. (valid until 9/5/2008)
- Use code 8J1L8TG93MCZ4X to save $200 off any $999.00+ Dell Inspiron laptop. (valid until 9/5/2008)
- Use code K54SDRK72$L6W3 to get 20% off any XPS M1330 or XPS M1530 laptop $1,249 or more

HP Laptops and Labor Day Discounts
HP makes some really awesome laptops and have some amazing deals right now. My favorite from HP for a students needs are the Pavilion dv4t (14.1″ screen), Pavilion dv5t or dv5z (both 15.4″ screens, the dv5t is Intel inside while dv5z is AMD inside), and the convertible tablet PC to laptop Pavilion tx2500z. HP has a current coupon code for 30% off of all customized Pavilion laptops, just visit HPShopping.com and put in coupon code NB8821 at checkout to get 30% off a customized notebook — an amazing deal!
UPDATE!! It looks like the 30% off code from HP has been used up, there is however a 5% off coupon code still available, just punch in code NB3089 at checkout to get that much lesser 5% discount. Sorry to all of those that missed this incredible 30% off deal.
Sony Laptops and Labor Day Discounts
Sony prides themselves on style, and their laptops definitely do look stylish. I really like the VAIO SR laptop for students since it’s so portable with a 13.3″ screen and 4lbs of weight. The good news is Sony has a $200 off coupon code VAIO200SR on the VAIO SR right now if you purchase via SonyStyle.com
Lenovo Laptops and Labor Day Discounts
Lenovo is known for its business line of ThinkPad notebooks. However, remember that business notebooks are built to last and if you’re a student you also want something that’s built to last. I recommend the ThinkPad T400 (14.1″ budget laptop) and ThinkPad R400 (14.1″ screen laptop) for student needs. These ThinkPad will definitely last you all four years of college. You can also get the slightly older ThinkPad T61 14.1″ laptop and right now you can use coupon code USPENDOFSUMMER at Lenovo.com to get 5% off of that laptop.

When I apply the HP Coupon code it gives me this message,
“The coupon entered does not apply to the items in your shopping cart. Please review the coupon for products included in this offer.”
What gives? I was hoping this would work this time.
Any ideas?
Thanks

I found out the reason why it would not work. The discount code will not work under the APP or Student Program of HP.
You must purchase the laptop through the regular links.
Maybe you should make a note about this on your articles as a few of your readers may surely have their own student account in HP and may experience similar problems.
The discount code removed about $420 with my build, thats including the $150 instant rebate they already apply on the site.
Thanks

Sorry you had problems using it Constantine, looks like you figured it out though
Yes, you’re right, I should include that in posts. The coupon codes do not work alongside the student discount APP deal so you have to be logged out from that on the HP site. It does work (is stackable) with existing discounts and rebates though, so that’s good.
