Apple to Offer Huge Student Discount Next Week?

Posted on 29 May 2008

According to Apple Insider Apple will be rolling out a huge student discount program as early as this coming Monday. Apple offers an ongoing student discount of up to 10% on products, but during the back to school buying season they have traditionally done an even bigger promotion that includes rebate offers and freebies coupled with a Mac purchase.

Last year Apple ran a promotion in which students or faculty could get a $199 rebate on the combined purchase of MacBook, MacBook Pro or Mac Pro with an iPod Video or Nano. According to rumors, the offer this year will be even better. You can be sure it will include rebates on Mac notebooks and desktops, and probably once again involve an iPod. Some people think it might be an offer of a free iPod Touch with a certain dollar amount purchase on a Mac.

Apple has always been popular in the education market and everyone knows that brand loyalties are established while we’re young, so Apple wants as many college students buying its products as possible. Once a student graduates it is much more likely they’ll return to buying a Mac if that’s what they used during college.

Stay tuned to StudentBuyingGuide.com and we’ll let you know the full details on the offer Apple runs once it is formally announced next week!

Does this count for countries outside the USA too? I live in Holland, will apple offer the same studentdiscounts? I could use it really bad…

Hi Gideon, Apple will offer something in different countries, the offer might be slightly different for each. We’ll find out more this week!

I’ll be attending a university in the UK this Sept. and there seems to be similar discounts going on there. But Apple computers are already more expensive over there and their tax is huge. So buying Apple from the US even without the student discount is better. But it sux since I’m a student and I want to benefit from the discount!
